It’s just as much a result of the community’s student-athletes, who, according to all three coaches, are hard working and consistent. Their happiness at Monroe is not just the result of a healthy relationship with the school’s administration. None have felt a strong desire to leave at any point, either. They have been teaching at the Middlesex County school for nine and 20 years, respectively.Īll three started working at Monroe shortly after graduating from college, too, and they have stayed that whole time. Eurell and Yannone are going into their third and 13th years leading their programs, respectively. Warner is entering his third season as Monroe’s boys’ basketball coach, but he has been teaching at the school for 10 years. “We get a lot of support from the administration and the athletic director, Greg Beyer,” said Monroe boys’ lacrosse coach Joe Yannone. “A great training staff and facilities and community support.” “We have all the support in the world,” said Monroe wrestling coach Joe Eurell. “Everybody is very welcoming and helpful,” said Monroe boys’ basketball coach Jeff Warner. Monroe seems to be a really great place to work, which explains why there is no coaching turnover as we move toward the 2019-20 school year. So when a coach finds the right place to work, he or she is more likely to embrace this labor of love. But there is no doubt that it’s meaningful.
